Grenada

Bio: I was born in Grenada, in a house called Eden. One year later we moved to British Guiana as it was then, and I’ve been hopping from pillar to post ever since. So far I’ve lived in ten countries – several of them several times. After growing up in London of the swinging sixties, I grew up all over again in Jamaica of the tumultuous seventies – heady days. As a kid in England I grew up believing I was black. Then I got to Jamaica and they called me white bwoy. By now I’ve given up caring. I’ve never had a tattoo, but if I did it would say: Family. For 20 years I worked with the World Bank, perfectly suited to a nomad like me. I hauled my family through some interesting times and places, including the violent meltdown of Zimbabwe; where we all heartily abandoned our so-called diplomatic neutrality. In 2008 I got off the treadmill and moved back to Grenada; the home I never knew. We’re both enjoying the reunion.
